First Annual Pumpkin Run - 2010: Preliminary Results PDF Print E-mail

West Sacramento hosted it's first annual Pumpkin Run Saturday at the River City High School/West Sacramento Recreation Center complex Saturday morning.  The 5 K and 10 K races were a fund raising event hosted by the Aquatics Foundation of West Sacramento.



The goal of the AFWS is to reduce the financial burdens of the Washington Unified School District and the City of West Sacramento Parks and Recreation Department for providing recreation services for the citizens of West Sacramento.

Over 100 runners participated in the event, the brain child of Race Directors David Trussell and AFWS Director Ross Yancher.  Several West Sacramento businesses sponsored the race.  The events included run courses on the Clarksburg Branch Line Trail and a 2 K Kids Candy Burner Run around the RCHS complex.  West Sacramento artist Joshua Whiting provided the AFWS with an attractive race logo.  Participants each received popular Halloween orange t-shirts to commemorate the event.  Dave's Pumpkin Patch and RoCo Wine and Spirits were instrumental in providing the racers with participation prizes (pumpkins) and post race refreshments.
